Description:
|
We’ll
embark on a journey through
time as we learn about the historical
evolution of the city and the
constituent elements of its
traditional idiosyncrasy (immigration,
tango, folklore, football and
popular culture, among others),
and discover the exciting wonders
hidden in the heart of its most
colorful and traditional districts.
Our tour begins at Plaza
de Mayo, where the city
was first founded. There we’ll
admire the emblematic Pink
House, the Cathedral
and the Cabildo
(Colonial Town Hall). Our visit
of the city’s most traditional
districts continues as we head
for San
Telmo, where we make
the mandatory tour of its antique
shops and visit Plaza
Dorrego, in the heart
of this colonial district, where
every Sunday a traditional street
antiques fair is hosted. Later,
we’ll pay a visit to La
Boca to see the splendidly
colorful houses on mythical
Caminito
Street. After that, we will go to Puerto
Madero, a renovated docklands
area, surely the newest and
maybe the trendiest of Buenos
Aires’ barrios. Afterwards we’ll
head for Retiro
and Recoleta,
where we’ll have the chance
to see the splendid San
Martín Square, surrounded by landmarks built during our contry's very own Belle Époque, like the former Paz Palace (now the Military Society), the San Martín Palace and the Plaza Hotel. Later we will continue our way to the aristocratic district of La Recoleta. There we’ll
admire the distinguished Alvear
Avenue where you will find the
most exclusive stores and trendy
boutiques. As we continue on
towards Palermo, we’ll
have the chance to admire the
parks designed by world-famous
French landscape artist Charles
Thais for the May Revolution
Centenary, as well as the sumptuous
palaces that have graced Buenos
Aires with that distinctive
Parisian atmosphere. After lunch, we will finish our city tour in Mataderos fair which is a typical neighbourhood fair in the west part of the city and out of reach of the common tourist, which offers arts and crafts, home made food, popular tango and folklore show and many other things to enjoy.

THE
WEATHER IN BUENOS AIRES |
|
The
four seasons are well defined.
In Summer,
it is hot and humid and the
temperature varies between
22°C and 35°C, with
some extreme peaks of 40°C.
In Winter it is cold and the wind is strong, being the coldest month July. The average temperature varies between 3°C and 15°C. Sometimes, it drops some degrees below cero. It is necessary to wear a thick coat or a jacket and a scarf if you go out.
The Autumn and the Spring are mild and the temperature varies between 13°C and 22°C. Irains more frequently, but the rains are not heavy.
There are some meteorological phenomena with weird characteristics like the well known “Veranito
de San Juan”. It was
named like that because it
appears approximately on June
24th which was the day on
which San Juan el Bautista
was born. This rare weather
can last between three and
seven days and can sometimes
reach 24ºC which is the
reason why you can see people
sunbathing in the city parks
and squares in the middle
of the Winter.
